Assignment 3:
Shape/Form
1. Use at least 6 Geometric shapes, of any size, to create a composition in pencil. Two shapes may be used twice; the other two must be different.
Every shape must be connected. Using your grayscale, smoothly shade in each shape. Where the shapes overlap, shade using a different value.
Complete ten of these compositions in your sketchbook. Each one should be 5" x 5". Each one should be shaded. You must use at least six different shades.
2. Turn one of these into two larger 7" x 7" designs on your Bristol board. One will be painted in using the values you used in your sketchbook, keeping the paint smooth and consistent.
The other will be painted using lines; similar to the way Project 1 was constructed. The lines of each shape should be moving in different directions and have different spacing.
Where the shapes overlap, the direction of the line must differ from the line types of the two overlapping shapes.
3. An additional third design will be constructed using the same base composition. The interior of each shape will be constructed using thin strips of images from magazines.
These will be cut out using the X-Acto knives and glued down using rubber cement.
Each shape should be created using a different image. Where the images overlap, a different image should be used.
