Students will learn to express their ideas in a three dimensional manner using a variety of media. Class projects explore the elements of form: value, space, texture, line, color, and time. Students will also use the principles of design: unity, balance, scale, emphasis, and rhythm in relation to three-dimensional creations.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
1. Have learned to use three-dimensional thinking skills and construction techniques to visualize and create objects in the round.
2. Have gained working skills with a variety of three-dimensional media.
3. Have started to develop personal expression and individual style in three-dimensional forms.
4. Have learned to make aesthetic judgments in regards to three-dimensional form and express these opinions and judgments during critique.
5. Have gained some exposure to artists working in three-dimensional media.
6. Have learned the vocabulary associated with three-dimensional art.

Grading and Requirements:
Projects make up the bulk of your grade. Some projects may be worth more than others. You will receive two grades for each major project, one for the concept and one for the craftsmanship. Both aspects are equally important. You will be expected to turn in preliminary sketches and a maquette for each project. These will be reviewed and approved before actual work on the project is begun. There is a deadline for each project and a critique on the day it is due. Your grade will be lowered one letter grade for each day it is late. However, you do have two weeks from the day a project is due to resubmit it for a slightly higher letter grade. This is only an option if you have turned the project in first. Critiques are an important part of your grade for the class. You must attend all critiques, even if your project is not finished. Your grade will be lowered one letter grade for missing a critique unless you provide a note from the funeral home.

All students will attend a three-dimensional art exhibit and write a two-page report.

There are also quizzes on class lectures and vocabulary.

Each student will submit an oral and written report on a movement in art or an artist associated with a specific movement.

You are allowed two absences assuming you have a note from the coroner or physician. Each additional absence will result in a one-letter grade reduction.
