Torso Series A and B:

Sample Prints and Sculptures

The Torso Series were a group of prints and sculptures serving as a segue to my undergraduate thesis. There were 13 prints in editions of 6 each. Each one depicted a male torso from a different angle and in a different exaggerated motion. Layered on top of each of the images was a printed screen serving as a metaphor for the armor with which we, as men, equip ourselves. However, through the processes of motion, the screen reveals glimpses of the totality of the interior.

The sculptures are a wax casting of the torso. Included in the group of sculpures were another set of wax interior/exterior oppositions, and a 4' steel torso created from remanants in the die cutting process. The sculptures also revealed a glimpse of an intangible, sacred interior space.
